For SW Colorado
After Grand Mesas we went to another spot outside of Montrose, Colorado to meet up with some neighbors, David and Ruth Henderson.  Much food and drink was shared and having good friends around just adds to the positive experience.
A jeep road from Dallas Divide over to Telluride provided many wonderful views and geology lessons from David.
These guys look like trouble to me.  David and Ruth and The Richards

After David and Ruth headed over to Durango, Cindy and I went down the road a short distance to camp at Ridgway State Park.  One of the days we went over to Silver Jack Reservoir by way of Owl Creek Pass.  It was little rainy going over.
On the east side of the divide, down by Silver Jack, the valley is surrounded by high cliffs and the aspens were in full color.
This the morning after we had a storm system come through that left snow in the mountains.  This is looking south from Ridgway at the San Juan's.  Telluride is on the other side of the mountains.  We did make it over for some food and drinks with the Henderson's while we were together.
Wide open spaces in this area, and no tourists.
On a trip to Ouray, Colorado.  Lovely views off the main highway.
From Ridgway we headed back to Texas by way of Buena Vista.  We went over Cottonwood Pass to visit an old camping area in the Taylor Park area.  Hopefully to see some color but the season was almost done.
From Buena Vista we drove down to Red River, NM.  This was an area we had never visited and we wanted to check it out.  While there we drove over to see Eagles Nest, Angel Fire, and Taos.  While in Taos we visited the oldest continually habited area in the United States.  The original pueblo is still owned and inhabited by Native Americans with the units being passed down within the families.  It's a World Heritage Site today.  Very interesting history.
So once again, we come back to Texas looking forward to returning to our life in the Hill Country but also regretting the end of another trip.  Sometimes we think we could do the RV thing full time ... other times we're glad we have a nest to come back to.  Thanks for viewing our trips (my apologies for the long delay in updating the site) and we do look forward to the next adventure.
